I have now seen Dr. Al-Shakarchi twice at Kingston Hospital. I have never come across such a caring, patient and understanding Doctor. She has the most wonderful attitude and nothing is too much trouble. I should not have even been seeing her but she stood in for a colleague in their absence. I am delighted to have met her and thank her from the bottom of my heart for having such empathy and patience in what could have been a difficult situation for her. I am very fortunate and wish her well and all the lucky patients that will have the pleasure of seeing her in the future.

I am 75 and to date have seen many, many doctors but never one like Dr Israa Al-Shakarchi. She is by far a one off. I had Polymyalgia for a long time and now Fibromyalgia for which there is no cure. Anyone who has this debilitating illness knows we are often thought of as crazy because of the many symptoms which can change daily and often disregarded by doctors, friends and families alike. However, this lovely doctor actually listens and makes you feel so comfortable it’s easy to communicate with her. You actually leave the hospital feeling satisfied knowing everything has been done to help you. If only other medics realised this alone makes you feel so much better. I recently received a copy of the letter, from her, sent to my GP – the detail in the letter was amazing and confirmed what I already felt the she had been listening to me. A huge thank you and I pray I get to see you at my next appointment.

Having returned from abroad, where I underwent a never ending succession of tests, being shuffled from one doctor to another for four years, I had almost given up on being given any answers regarding the cause of my knee problem. I have now attended two appointments with Dr. Al-Shakarchi this year and finally my frustration in the medical profession is lifting. I am really impressed with this doctor. Not only has she diagnosed my condition, she has taken the time to review my previous history, and answered all my questions and my wife's questions both regarding this condition and the prescribed medication schedules. It is very likely that I have inflammatory monoarthritis. During these appointments, she has taken liquid from my knee, to reduce swelling, and given me a cortisone injection. This has been much less painful than on previous occasions. I feel very confident in Dr. Al-Shakarchi. She is very easy to communicate with and knowledgeable. I would like to thank her very much and hope that she will continue to oversee my treatment.

I was seen at my appointment time - and then made to feel relaxed so that when asked for my family and medical history this I was able to give without realising that Dr.I.Al-Shakarchui was not only listening but also making notes. The attention I received was the best - examined, blood tests,ex-rays etc., and 3 days on I received a follow up appointment - November - such good service. Dr I.Al-Shakarchui - was so Professional and yet had the patients and also such a pleasant way with her, I really do not know how she allocates her time for the full diary and appointments that she must have( I know her day was given to lots more patients). I would like to say a big THANK YOU.

I am so grateful to Dr Israa Al-Shakarchi. She recently diagnosed my condition of Polymyalgia rheumatica, even though earlier tests had shown this might not to be the case, and it was explained to me very carefully how this sometimes happens. She was very thorough in her examination and gave me every confidence I could be cured and what this process would be. Within a matter of days I was feeling so much better with the prescribed medication and continue to feel that way with my ongoing treatment. I was given very clear instructions on when and how to take my medication. I would certainly recommend this doctor, she was very knowledgable and professional, as well as being kind, approachable and easy to talk to.
